First time on the ice: the everyday analogy for Harai Tsurikomi Ashi
First time on the ice

Mechanic

Tori lifts and draws uke upward-forward with both grips, holding uke's weight almost suspended, while sweeping uke's advancing foot sideways before it can land and take weight. The feet fly out from under a body that's being held up from above.

Analogy

A friend skates backward holding both your hands, towing you along so half your weight is on their grip. Your blades barely touch the ice, and then they slide out sideways all at once. You end up hanging off two hands with your feet somewhere off to the left.

Why it maps

Being towed by the hands lifts the load off your feet, exactly like the lifting pull, so a small sideways slide sends both feet away before either can take weight.
