Tossed into the leaf pile: the everyday analogy for Ura Nage
Tossed into the leaf pile

Mechanic

Tori clamps uke's torso in a bear hug, drives their own hips under, and arches backward like a drawn bow, hurling uke up and over tori's shoulder to land behind him. Tori sacrifices his own back to turn his whole arching body into a launcher.

Analogy

A grown-up hugs you around the middle from behind, drives their hips forward, and arches backward like a drawn bow. You go straight up past their shoulder, over the top of their head, and down into the leaf pile behind them.

Why it maps

The bear hug plus the backward arch is ura nage exactly: the thrower's whole body is the bow, and the load is launched up over the shoulder to land behind the person who threw it.
