The rug yanked flat out: the everyday analogy for Yoko Gake
The rug yanked flat out

Mechanic

Tori sweeps the side of uke's ankle with the sole of the foot while throwing their own body to the mat, dragging uke sideways. Uke's feet whip out from under them laterally and they land flat on their side.

Analogy

Someone standing on a rug when it's ripped sideways with full force: their feet shoot one way, and with nothing left under them they drop flat on their side where they stood. The person pulling the rug has thrown their whole body backward to the floor to get it out fast enough.

Why it maps

The rug is tori's sweeping foot removing uke's support sideways at floor level, and the puller falling backward with the rug is tori's sacrifice: total commitment of body weight to whip the feet away.
